How do eSIMs work for travel?
An eSIM is a digital SIM built directly into your phone — there's no plastic card to swap. For international travel, that means you can install a local data plan before you fly and activate it the moment you land, without hunting for a SIM kiosk at the airport.
ConnectSIM sends your eSIM profile by email as a QR code. Open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM, scan the QR once, and the carrier profile installs in seconds. Your primary SIM stays active for calls and SMS, so you keep your WhatsApp number, two-factor codes, and home phone line while data routes through ConnectSIM.
This dual-SIM setup is the core benefit of travel eSIMs: cheap, fast data abroad without losing the number your bank and contacts already know. When you get home, just disable the ConnectSIM line — or keep the global subscription running for your next trip.
Most phones from 2018 onward support eSIM.
iPhone XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, and most Samsung Galaxy S20+ devices. Dial *#06# and look for an "EID" number to confirm. If you don't see one, your device is SIM-only.
